This week it’s all about full on glamour! And who can be more glamorous than the fabulous fictional fashion idol that is Carrie Bradshaw?
So, we are drawing inspiration from her iconic style and translating it into something we as normal human beings can also wear AND actually afford (we all know Carrie’s obsession with designer labels!)
LETS GET CARRIED AWAY…
a Must have this season is the tulle skirt. It’s everywhere,on the runways,the street and in the shops. It can be a bit intimidating at first and you might wonder where to you will be wearing this eye-catching skirt? Also it’s very easy to look frumpy and almost grandma-ish in this type of skirt, if not styled correctly. You do not want to look like you’re drowning in a sea of tulle – so follow these styletips to look “Carrie” beautiful.
1. The short story
Keep whatever you wear on top short and fitted. You need to contrast the volume of the skirt with something fitted to avoid looking grandma-ish. I am definitely not a advocate of the (dreaded) crop top but in this case a crop top works perfectly because of the high-waisted full volume skirt. Same rule apply when putting on a jacket – the jacket must not be longer than the skirts waistband – this emphasizes your waist and show of your bodyshape.
2. Add heels
If you’re short like me this is even more important. You need to add length to this look because of the volume of the skirt. Otherwise you might end up looking frumpy instead of fabulously fashionable. Just add heels – trust me, you’ll see the difference.
